Still Doing Great

Well we have not been too good at making updates, but the lack of updates means Parker has been doing really well.  He is no longer seeing any therapies.  His physical development is progressing as normal and his speech is age appropriate. He had a little trouble this spring staying healthy and was out of school for 6 weeks but the good news is we were able to keep him hydrated enough he did not have to be admitted to the hospital at all.  Although we miss a lot of our friends and nurses there it's so nice to live at home.

In May Parker finally started sleeping through the night which was a huge milestone for us and he is going strong and his morning wake up is getting closer to 5:30AM which is an improvement from 4:30 but hoping that we can possibly get him even a little later.  Probably the biggest news we have had is that Parker is eating on his own.  After working with the Feeding team at Children's Hospital he is eating enough by mouth and getting enough calories that his G-tube is only needed for the additional water he needs and medication.  Here are some of the highlights.

In March Parker went on his first plane ride to attend the 25th COTA Anniversary in Indianapolis.  It was an amazing event that we are so thankful to be a part of.  It was great to be able to put a face to some
many of the people that have been working with us.  Parker loved the plane and the Children's Museum it was held at. We had a blast.

In May Parker enjoyed another plane ride for his Uncle Ian and Aunt Sara's wedding in Myrtle Beach.  We were able to spend a week there on vacation and Parker went swimming for the first time.  He loved the water and splashing around.  He was the ring bearer at the wedding and did a fabulous job.

In April Dustin and I went away for the weekend for the first time without Parker.  It's been a long time coming and this was a huge milestone for us.  We had a great time visiting our friends.  We missed Parker dearly but it the break was much needed.

Over the summer we made several trips to the zoo.  Parker really enjoyed seeing all the animals and riding the choo choo train.  We also had a lot of fun splashing around in the backyard in his pool.

Over labor day weekend we took a trip to Canada to see Lindsay’s family.  Although the car ride was very long Parker did quite well and it was worth every minute of it.

In September Parker got his birthday present a little early from us and went to see Yo Gabba Gabba Live.  He had a great time at the show singing and dancing.  He was a little scared of them close up when we met them but is still talks about how much fun he had.  In November, we celebrated his 3rd birthday with family and friends.  Of course he enjoyed all the balloons he got and we still have couple of them lingering around.  He was very sad to find out that he only has one birthday each year.

Christmas was really special for Parker this year.  He really started to understand that Santa was coming to all the good boys and girls.  Of course all he wanted for Christmas was balloons   He had a great time opening up his presents and it was so fun to watch.  We also got some exciting news right before Christmas, Parker will have a little bother in May.  He is pretty excited about it right now but I’m sure that feeling will change once he arrives.

That’s about all that new with us, again we will try and updated on a little more regular basis.
