Still Doing Great
Submitted by Dustin on Sun, 01/08/2012 - 9:46pmWell we have not been too good at making updates, but the lack of updates means Parker has been doing really well. He is no longer seeing any therapies. His physical development is progressing as normal and his speech is age appropriate. He had a little trouble this spring staying healthy and was out of school for 6 weeks but the good news is we were able to keep him hydrated enough he did not have to be admitted to the hospital at all. Although we miss a lot of our friends and nurses there it's so nice to live at home.
Things are going great
Submitted by Dustin on Sat, 12/04/2010 - 2:22pmIt has been forever since we have posted an update. We feel guilty about it, but it really is good news if you look at it this way. We have been so busy keeping up with Parker, that we really have not had any time at all!! Parker has come a long way since our last update. He has made some amazing progress. Even better yet, Parker has not had to be re-admitted to the hospital since our last visit. We have only been back for visits, never overnight!!!!
Parker returned to Daycare in August, he was happy to be back with his friends again but we were all sad to see Erin go. He had just started crawling. A couple weeks later he finally started walking, well running really and has been on the go since.
Finally an Update
Submitted by Dustin on Tue, 05/25/2010 - 8:59pmWell it has been almost a month since our last update. Unfortunately that does not mean that there has been no news. The daycare situation seemed not to be working out because Parker has been re-admitted to the hospital more times since the last update. He was admitted both times because he was spiking fevers. Small colds and stomach bugs cause big problems for him because of his anti-rejection medications. The good news though is that through everything Parkers kidney function has been perfect. In order to keep things like that, we made the very difficult decision to pull Parker out of daycare. We are still hoping that he will be able to go back at the end of the summer when the doses of medications that he is on have dropped.
Quick Visit
Submitted by Dustin on Wed, 04/28/2010 - 9:17pmYesterday morning we were getting Parker ready for daycare, and he seemed warm. We took a temperature, and he had a fever. After talking to the nephrologist (kidney doctor) we did take him into Children's Hospital, and we were admitted. By the time we got there, his fever had broken, and he had no other symptoms. His labs looked fine, and so cultures of both his blood and urine were taken. 24 hours later, nothing had showed up in the cultures, so we were sent home. Other than having a pretty messed up schedule, Parker is in good shape. Parker and I will be returning to a mostly normal schedule tomorrow, only missing Lindsay. She has taken a long weekend to relax with some friends in Florida. Parker and I will miss her a lot, but hoepfully we will be able to get by.
Thanks for checking in!!

We're Home....finally
Submitted by Dustin on Sun, 04/11/2010 - 8:26pmWe have had a crazy weekend and we apologize for not updating sooner but Parker fianlly came home Thursday night. He is doing well and we able to spend our first night together in the new house. We have been working hard to try and organize the madness and find all of our belongings. We're in pretty good shape minus the basement...it's scary right now.
Lindsay is back to work tomorrow and she is looking forward to it. Parker will be at home with friends all week which are are so blessed to have help us out. That's all for now.

Still here...
Submitted by Dustin on Tue, 04/06/2010 - 7:59pmJust wanted to let everyone know that we are still here. We are waiting for results from a urine culture that was taken yesterday. The like to let it grow for 48 hours, so we should have some results tomorrow. They have also clamped off Parker's bladder drain tube. He has been peeing normally since this morning. So far everything looks good. As long as this continues, they will pull the bladder drain tube tomorrow. Parker did have a pretty big milestone today - he took some of his bottle by mouth. Only 2 ounces, but that is more than he has taken by mouth for over 6 months. It is a small step in the right direction.
Just an update on the auction for next week. We have had a lot of phone calls and emails asking if we can still accept reservations. We CAN still accept reservations. You can call them in to Sandy until Monday. We are looking forward to a great time.
Surgery
Submitted by Dustin on Mon, 04/05/2010 - 8:33pmParker had his surgery today, and it went well. This is the first time he has had to wake up from anesthesia without a pain medication, and he is a HUGE crab. We have been fighting with him for a couple of hours to try to get him to sleep. Now that he is sleeping, we are saying prayers for a good night.

HAPPY EASTER!!!
Submitted by Lindsay on Sun, 04/04/2010 - 8:18pmParker had a nice Easter today. Although we are still in the hospital we has able to visit with grandma Cheryl and Luisa and grandpa Bob and Wally. He also had a quick visit from uncle Ian and aunt Sara. He was a in a great mood today and has lots of fun playing with everyone!
It has been a pretty crazy week for us, we have been back and forth from the new and old house bringing things over and then we fianlly had the big move yesterday. We're excited to be in but it's a little overwhelming. My parents and I spent the first night at the new house last night. It was little strange since Dustin and Parker couldn't be there, so I am looking forward to our first night there altogether.
We're Back :(
Submitted by Lindsay on Thu, 04/01/2010 - 3:52pmWell, yesterday was Parker's 1 month transplant anniversary and unfortunately we were re-admitted to the hospital. On Tuesday night he had fevers in the middle of the night and on Wednesday early morning we went to the ER. They have identified he has 2 types of infections in his urine. They were able to get the fevers down today but we are still waiting to hear what the next step is. We will keep you posted.
Wow...
Submitted by Lindsay on Fri, 03/19/2010 - 11:26amI’m alive and well but still a slow moving vehicle. This was more painful than I anticipated. My stay in the hospital was long and hard because I wasn’t able to see much of Parker or Dustin, but I had a lot of visitors to keep me company so I thank you all for that.
When Parker moved up to my floor I was amazed to see how fast he recovered from the surgery. He was kicking and rolling around and I could barely walk over to his room visit for 15 minutes. I miss the joy of picking him up and snuggling with him but I know when the day comes it’s going to be so great!
